Norris Hot Springs continues the summer season tradition, hosting their 4th Annual Memorial Day Holy Bucket Bluegrass Festival. If you haven't experienced a Holy Bucket Bluegrass festival yet - now is the time to check it out. Tickets are an affordable $10 for a full day of music and a memorable soak. Memorial Day, Monday, 5/26/08, 4:00-10:00.
4:00 -- The Acousticals - Featuring three of western Montana's premier bluegrass musicians, Richie Reinholdt on guitar, and vocals, Ted Lowe on bass and vocals, and Chad Fadely on mandolin. Richie has been a professional musician for nearly 40 years. He spent most of the 70's touring with the regionally successful "Live Wire Choir", a newgrass and western swing group. Ted was immersed in a wide variety of music, including bluegrass, old time, folk and rock and roll. With The Acousticals he's found the rare opportunity to combine his musical roots with the contemporary songwriting talents of his fellow musicians. Chad's tasteful solos have made him one of Western Montana's most in-demand mandolin players. Currently Chad plays in several bands and was a founding member of the well known Missoula based band, Long Overdue.
6:00 -- John Lowell & Friends - Vintage Guitar Magazine says,"Lowell's flatpicking guitar technique ranks among the cleanest and most lyrical you'll hear." Flatpicking Guitar Magazine says, "Lowell's flatpicking is solid and fresh. His sound is his own and his arrangements fit the songs perfectly." On September 30, 2007, Lowell and his friend Ben Winship (The Growling Old Men), along with their friend Dave Thompson on bass, played on A Prarie Home Companion. John Lowell is the real deal, and so are his friends. Don't miss this one.
8:00 -- Stormy Creek has performed at every one of the Holy Bucket Bluegrass festivals, and they aren't about to miss this one. They return once more with their newgrass standards and originals. Stormy Creek is the "in-demand" bluegrass unit for weddings, private parties and festivals. Featuring the five classic instruments in bluegrass; Storm Norick's sweet fiddle, Jeff "hot sauce" Shouse on the even hottter banjo, Tom "mandotom" Murphy screaming solos on mandolin, Ian Fleming's lightning guitar, and Quinton King's sexy rhythm's on bass honor the roots, but push the boundaries of the genre. This year they will be joined by the fabulously talented Sally Newsome. Sally's big voice and incredible lyrical style fits this rocking bluegrass style perfectly, closing the event with a powerhouse line-up not to be missed. So check out the music, and while you're there, EAT/DRINK/SOAK. Water of the God's Montana Grill will be open every weekend in May perfecting these all local and delicious fare. Montana grass-fed beef & bison and homegrown salads & sides are served up fresh, poolside. Montana wines and microbrews are the featured quaffing choices. Soak in the Water of the Gods while listening to the best live acoustic music in the region. Norris Hot Springs Water of the Gods is located on Highway 84, just 33 miles west of Bozeman - 29 miles past Four Corners. |
